About Myself

41 years, married with 2 boys (5 and 7 years). At the moment I am in the planning stages to start up an Interior Consultancy Business.

Background

I worked 6 years as Assistant Manageress for Laura Ashley in Germany. Moved to England and for 4 years worked in an Interior Design Shop. In the last 7 years I’ve stayed at home to raise a family.

WBDA

As I have always wanted to have my own business but didn’t know how to go about it, I was glad to come across a leaflet about the WBDA at the Rugby library. It was fantastic to find out that there is an Agency specifically helping women on a free basis. So far I have attended the “Inland Revenue Course” and a 4-day “Confidence & Business Start up Workshop”. It covered all the areas everybody seems to struggle with when considering a new business venture. And often the unknown stops you from getting started. The course gets you motivated and focused and you are able to exchange ideas with the tutor and the other women.

After the workshop I knew in what areas I needed extra help which then led to meeting up with a business advisor where I could discuss on a one-to-one basis my problems and also get a lot more information for my specific business area.

My Future Plans

Set up business working from home, offering an Interior Consultancy Service, also producing and selling handmade Interior Accessories. In around 6 to 8 years, owning a shop selling Home and Garden Decorations.
