I am 58 years old, and have always worked in commerce but wanted to start my own business in fashion. I really wanted to start doing something that I would like to do instead of what I have to do!

So what I did next…

I was bored of doing the same job and working in the same industry and just need a change and thought working for myself was the best decision!

My main challenge was having the confidence to leave a well paid job and risk having no income for a period of time. I also didn’t know how to put a business plan together and work out what finances where needed.

I got in touch with Business Link and they referred me to the Women’s Business Development Agency. I was booked in to see a business advisor, Carolyn Reily, who offered me support with business planning, advertising, finance and tax. Sitting down with Carolyn and planning the business properly from the start really helped with make things realistic and achievable and this helped build my confidence to move forward.
