WBDA's Networking Event - 10th June 2009

The Women's Business Development Agency held another networking event...and it was a huge success!

The event was held at the National B2B Centre, Warwick University, Coventry on the 10th June 2009, which was aimed at women thinking about starting their own business and for existing women-owned businesses in Coventry, Warwickshire and the West Midlands.

We had a jam-packed agenda kicked off by WBDA's Chair, Isabella Moore, who rose to become the first female president of the British of Chambers of Commerce and has now teamed up with her daughter Sophie Howe and colleague Hazel Stewart to buy Comtec, a leading translation and language services company.

After Isabella's motivating opening we moved onto our Speed Networking, which gave the women a chance to networking in groups and get to know each other and their businesses.

This was then followed by our guest speaker - gusty, down-to-earth Irish Woman, Rita Sandford from InsideOut Learning - who shared her tips for "Moving Beyond The Comfort Zone" and helped the women to shatter their glass cages!!

The attendees also got the chance to discover how two successful entrepreneurs, Stevie Matthewson from Stone Workwear and Jenny Hooper from Independant Freight Solutions, overcame challenges and barriers in starting up their own business and how they moved completely out of their comfort zone to set their own thriving business.

And that's not all...

We also had a range of support organisations there on the evening such as the National B2B Centre, Burrows Scarborough Accountants, Insurantz.com (one of our part sponsors for this event), Chemist.net (the other one of our part sponsors for this event) who were there to provide answers to burning questions, information and advice. There were even a few of our clients who had stalls for the evening to sell their goodies!

And of course... there was even more networking going on throughout the whole event!
