My Chemist
WBDA has developed a new and exciting way to teach enterprise in schools using th e latest interactive, immersive computer gaming technology that offers a new approach to engaging with students.
The game, called ‘My Chemist’, allows students to simulate running their own chemist shop and undertake a wide range of activities from making stock, basic market research and time and money management in a fun and informative way.
The students have the ability to move around the town interviewing its residents, making stock in the laboratory or serving customers in the shop. The game incorporates financial awareness and a selection of funding options - basic profit and loss, advertising campaigns and how external influences in the environment will affect customer demand.
The game comes complete with student workbooks, lesson plans, as well as an on-site "Train the Teacher" programme from our experts if required. ‘My Chemist’ can be used as an educational tool to develop understanding on a range of enterprise-related topics – bringing theoretical knowledge to life by offering a realistic perspective of running a business.
The game fosters competence in ‘being enterprising’ and develops the ability to be creative and flexible, to be able to take and exercise initiative and to be able to solve problems. It combines creative talent and practical know-how while growing an understanding of enterprise – taking a holistic approach to enterprise education.
