Training Courses

Key factors affecting the start-up process and growth prospects of women led businesses include the level and quantity of training required, particuarly where women have been out of the labour market or lack experience.
WBDA offers a range of free, expert and innovative training courses for aspiring and existing businesswomen. All our courses are professionally run by highly qualified trainers, but are also relaxed and enjoyable and provide the opportunity to meet other women like you.

These are a selection of the workshops and programmes we offer:

  • Be Your Own Boss - A Confident Start: YOU are the starting point for anything in your business - whatever your stage of business, whether you are starting, growing or diversifying. The starting point must be YOU! So this workshop will look at what YOU are and what exactly you bring to your business. And give you a real confidence boost, help you to generate your own viable business idea and get rid of some of those insecurities!

  • Marketing and Selling: You won't have a business without a market or without a customer! You need to know all about your market, your customer and what and how they are prepared to buy which products and services. How do you get your message to your potential customer? It's a complex area, but you need to understand all the basics of your product or services and this is where WBDA can help! This workshop will help you understand what marketing is all about and what it means for your business.

  • Finance, Legal and Business Management (2-Day): Are you any good at managing your own money? Well it's no good having a brilliant product and a target market that you can reach effectively if you can't manage the money to produce and sell it, and you can't manage systems and people to produce it and get it the customer! You need to be able to cost and price your product or service so you cover your production costs and make a profit. Your pricing strategy needs to fit your market place, your competitors and the product life cycle. So WBDA has put together this 2-day workshop to teach you all you need to know about finance, legal and business management to help you start and grow your business.

  • Imagining Growth (2-Day): If you've been trading for more than 12 months then this 2-day programme will help you 'grow'- in which ever way growth means to you! It might mean working smarter not harder; it might mean going from part-time to full-time; it might mean taking on staff; it might mean growing an empire! Whichever! This programme is deigned to help you with the growth of your business.

We have adapted the above face-to-face workshops and programmes into a Women’s Enterprise Programme (Be Your Own Boss, Marketing and Selling and the Finance, Legal and Business Management workshops) and a Imagining Growth programme to provide an on-line training package that is available at a time and place that suits your lifestyle, family and work commitments.

You can register for these programmes, and access topics that are right for you, additional resources and forums at www.wmwomensbusinesscentre.com. Click on the graphic on the home page that says ' SIGN UP for online learning and networking' to go to the registration page. You will need to give some details so you can access this service.

If you are just at the ideas stage then the short 'Be Your Own Boss - A Confident Start' workshop could be for you!  Clarify your ideas and work them up into a viable business proposition and get started on the right road. In the meantime, check out the downloads at http://www.wmwomensbusinesscentre.com/pages/looking_for_ideas.

We also have Inland Revenue Workshops - The Women’s Business Development Agency is committed to delivering a diverse service that responds to your specific needs. We have identified that one of the main barriers preventing women from starting-up and sustaining their own businesses is finance and accounting. We recommend women to attend courses run by the Inland Revenue which are available throughout the country.

These Inland Revenue workshops are free, very informal, only last ½ a day and provide you with the opportunity to voice all your fears and concerns about finance to a fully qualified representative from the Inland Revenue.

To register for an Inland Revenue course near you simply click on “book now” located on our training calendar or for more information please call: 02476 236 111 or email admin@wbda.co.uk

For more information about any of our courses, to find out the dates and times of workshops near you, or to book your place, call us on 02476 236 111, email admin@wbda.co.uk or you can visit www.wmwomensbusinesscentre.com/events  and check out the events section to find out more information about the workshops.
